  1. Yikes! Seems like it happened so fast. Thanks for the info, however scant it may be right now.

Well, at least someone bought it. I wish it had been me, because I’ve been wanting to open a bar / club / arts emporium there for a long time (even though I LOVED seeing movies there!).
I’m out of the country until March, but maybe at that time the new owner will be looking for someone like me to do such a thing!

I appreciate any information posted about the new owner so that I may contact him.

    Viva La Dover!

Well, Foster’s explained that one of the mortgage holders “Rose Realty”, bought it. I’ve contacted them regarding my plans.
By the way, I came across this site due to my “The Strand” Google searches, and I really like it!
I now read everything on it.
    Good god, I miss N.E.

I really loved this place I hope it survives unlike the IOKA in Exeter.

I really hope this theater survives as a theater. there are not many like it left and would be a great loss to the downtown area. I don’t think turning it into a bar/club would be that great of an idea. i have seen many of these open in the area and they close shortly there after leaving nothing but an eyesore for the community. A theater on the other hand especially one like the strand could offer a unique oppertunity for someone to use the place as a movie theater and perhaps even as a performing arts center as well. that would at least be in keeping with the original use of the building.
