too many steps?

Despite Main Street School having a brand new parking lot, with plenty of room, parking for the school persists on Cass & Main. Visitors and employees should be compelled to use the new lot.

3 years and still no answer

Police Chief Richard Kane said late Wednesday afternoon that police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Brackett’s death. He did say police had recent contact with Brackett prior to his death but he wouldn’t elaborate on it.

“It was a juvenile matter and I’m not going to discuss it more,” he said.

I am not leaving Town without full disclosure by the Exeter Police Department on the facts of this tragedy.

I was away at the time caring for my brother Steve in Plymouth NH while his wife took a much needed break.

My phone rang and a friend informed  me that this young man had committed suicide.

The part of the story that still has not been confirmed but is still talked about around Town is that police officers may have contacted him about a matter, at football practice.

In front of the team.

That was communicated to me that day in Plymouth. I immediately  called Coach Ball, no comment. Mike Morgan , no comment.

Aaron Sanborn the reporter for the Newsletter could get nothing from Chief Kane.

I asked for my Selectmen to follow up, nothing.

I just watched Superintendent  Morgan on tv with all the area Chiefs of Police discussing school safety.

I had to turn it off.

If it is true that police did this, went on  campus, then there should be consequences for everyone involved.

Trouble

A significant crime scene is being worked by local and state police on Oak St. We also have news choppers overhead. This has been underway for some time now this afternoon with few details other than police were looking for the homeowners.

It’s Summer when the living is easy, and driving a chore

Good Morning All,

Paving and related work on Portsmouth Avenue is scheduled to begin this Monday, July 6th. It is expected to take approximately 3 weeks, weather permitting, during which time a one-way detour will be in place periodically. The detour will begin at Green Hill Road for vehicles on Portsmouth Ave that are headed into town (south). Vehicles will be directed through the Jady Hill neighborhood to High Street or String Bridge. Vehicles on High Street will be able to turn onto Portsmouth Ave to go north (toward Route 101). The detour will not be needed every day, so please watch for signs indicating that the detour is in effect.

Please share this information with employees, neighbors, customers, etc. Also, access to the businesses in this area will be maintained throughout the project.

Thank you all for your patience and cooperation. Feel free to call or email with any questions.

Hope you all have a fun and safe holiday weekend,
Jen

friday morning

Stepped out of the apartment with the dog early this morning and met this fellow coming up the stairs. We are currently camping at the Mill along the river as we sold our home.

In two days.

I am not crowing, just a word to the wise. Formulate  a plan if you catch the bug to sell because all the campgrounds are full.

This is an an area that is chock full of wild things. My own yard was the same way with woodland beasts.   I tried to pick him up but as you saw in the other snapper photo, they have long necks. You lift from the rear and just behind his head, but he was having none of that .

Crikey!

Back to Clemson Pond for the wandering turtle.

On our walk this am we saw the Exeter FD responding to a brush fire in the PEA woods.

The Big Ride

I know many enjoyed reading the saga of our son Jeff and his Appalachian Trail through hike in 2010.

Jeff is coming to Exeter tomorrow for a brief visit with us, then a quick trip Downeast before he jets off to begin his big ride.

You will be able to follow this  bike journey across America with two chums on his Tumblr site.

It all begins on June 10.

Last week riding through Glacier.

This should be good!
